dibber’s global view with lean canvas

The Saturday November 10th, 2012 in News, What's dibber ?  | No Comments

I know it’s been a while since i last updated you with how dibber is doing. I’ve been focusing on the developing side again and it’s not that easy to be interesting while talking about super technical stuff ! The good news is that i now have a stable base of code that will allow me to build more specific things related to what dibber will allow you to do.

But before that, i’m going to have to be more precise and concise on what problems dibber aims to solve and how. Not long ago i discovered a way that fits the project to organize my thoughts around that aspect. It’s called lean canvas and i thought it would be a good idea to make one and share it publicly.

Back ! What’s next ?

The Saturday September 22nd, 2012 in News  | No Comments

Aaah, vacations feel so good ; you know it right ? Now is time to get back in business more motivated than ever ! I continued to do some coding these past days but we’re still far from something we can show. The idea now is to both get comfortable with the new technologies i chose to code on and to be absolutely sure those can be used to do all parts of dibber in an efficient way. So far it seems to be ok !

Also, it will be time to start making a real roadmap leading to the 1st usable version of dibber. You will then be able to more explicitely see the progress the (soon to be) team is making. This will also include a more concrete presentation of what dibber aims to do than the fictionnal stories. (more…)

Fictionnal story : The edible place, an urban community garden

The Tuesday August 21st, 2012 in What's dibber ?  | No Comments

In order to help understanding the futur possibilities of dibber, we’re writting a few fictionnal stories on how it could be used. Please, meet the edible place team!

The edible place is a shared garden managed by a community of urban people who wanted to have their own green place to grow vegetables together. They met during the 99% strikes at Zuccotti Park where they started to share some food and then a lot of talking. When the park got evacuated, they didn’t want to just go home like nothing changed and after even more talking, they found a place at the top of a building where they could put dirt and grow things in big pots or other less common stuff. Fictionnal story : Rachid, the discovery of permaculture

The Tuesday August 21st, 2012 in What's dibber ?  | No Comments

In order to help understanding the futur possibilities of dibber, we’re writting a few fictionnal stories on how it could be used. Please, meet Rachid!

Rachid lost his father in Egypt a few months ago. After having spent 2 years in France,he had to come back to take care of his family and the farm of his parents. He remembers about how his father used to work but at the same time also remembers that using all these pesticides made his dad pass away too early. He doesn’t want to work like he used to do and is looking for other ways. His little sister, Racha, who’s always connected to the internet but is also very concerned about the future of the family, is looking for answers there. One day she found a forum post about a new web application that helps small farmers to connect to each other and share information called dibber. (more…)

Fictionnal story : John, almost retired

The Tuesday August 21st, 2012 in What's dibber ?  | No Comments

In order to help understanding the futur possibilities of dibber, we’re writting a few fictionnal stories on how it could be used. Please, meet John!

John is a farmer and he’s been working on his small farm for almost 30 years. He never got the time to get much into the new technology such as cellphones, computers or internet. He always found inspiration for his plantings in his old books. Now, he’s close to retire but both his sons are gone and don’t wish to pursue his work. He’s trying to find a way to perpetuate what was self-taught and learned over the years of practice but does’t want his land to be bought by a large scale business farmer. (more…)

Welcome on this blog. Here, we’ll talk about everything surrounding dibber. If you don’t know what dibber is yet, i invite you to have a look at this brief introduction first. Something more complet will be available soon so you can get a deeper understanding of the possibilities dibber will propose.

We’ll also write a few fictionnal stories about potential futur dibber users as we believe it’s one of the best (and less boring) way to present its future features.

Stay tuned, you can suscribe to the RSS feed to receive the last entries of this blog. We’ll also be on social networks soon. (more…)

Basic introduction

The Sunday August 19th, 2012 in What's dibber ?  | No Comments

dibber is an attempt at creating a web application that would be usable by small scale farmers, gardeners… to help them establish their plot. They will then manage their activities while choosing to share their experiences publicly or exclusively with their dibber “friends” making the application a place of perpetual exchanges and mutual-help.
